The Process

Why do your mud kitchens take so long to make ?

A question we get asked a lot ! Although that may be true I thought it would be useful to explain just how much work goes into producing just one of these kitchens.

It takes on average 3 pallets to make one kitchen taking into account waste and just the deconstruction of each pallet takes a while. All nails are removed and each pallet sorted into sections in the wood store but once taken apart the hard work of making these planks smooth starts.

In these photos you can see how they normally start, pretty rough with splinters everywhere. Every board is planed and then 3 stages of sandpaper applied. You then end up with a very smooth and kid friendly finish.

Now multiple that by 45 as that is exactly how many individual pieces of timber goes into just one of these kitchens !

The frame is then built to your height and bowl combination and kitchen build starts. Counter top, fronts and sides all sanded once again and sharp corners rounded off . Removable back added and once complete the kitchen is taken apart for painting.

This typically takes about 2-3 days as each section gets two coats.

Finally the kitchen is reassembled and accessories added ready for collection..

So hopefully , there is your answer.
